Welcome to the Netherlands
Everything you need to know about working and living in the Netherlands.

Need help?
Our team guides you through registration, tax cards, contracts, and finding housing. Support is available via the app.
Work Permit & Citizen Service Number
EU/EEA citizens can apply for jobs in the Netherlands through the LetMe app. To receive your first salary, you need a Citizen Service Number (BSN), which you will receive after registering with the municipality (BRP).
You will receive a BSN if you:
- Come to live and work in the Netherlands, even for a short period, or
- Are already residing in the Netherlands and register with the municipality
Bring your employment contract and rental agreement to the municipality for registration.
Dutch Bank Account
After obtaining your BSN, you can open a bank account. Popular banks include ING, Rabobank, ABN AMRO, Bunq, and Revolut. Bring a valid ID and your BSN to the bank branch or open an account online.
Phone Number & SIM Card
Buy a SIM card at Albert Heijn, Kruidvat, T-Mobile, Vodafone, or Lebara. Bring a valid ID and, if applicable, your BSN for registration. Prepaid and subscription packages are available from €10 per month.
Finding housing
Rental prices vary considerably by region—highest in Amsterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht, lower in smaller towns and villages. See www.funda.nl, www.pararius.com, or www.kamernet.nl for rooms and apartments.
Rental tips:
- • Make sure you have a written lease
- • Notice period: usually 1 month
- • Deposit: usually 1–2 months' rent
Ask your employer:
Many employers help you find housing. Contact the LetMe team for housing support.
Check if utilities (gas, water, and electricity) are included.
Jobs in hospitality available now
The restaurant and hospitality industry is actively hiring. With experience in restaurants or hotels, you can find full-time positions within days through the LetMe app.
